Acai berries are small, dark purple berries that grows on large palms. The fruit is about 1 inch in circumference and has a similar appearance to a grape or blueberry. The acai palm tree is indigenous to the tropical Amazon regions of South America and was traditionally used by native Brazilians to provide a natural energy boost and vitality and also enhance their diet.
The tree produces bunches of 500-900 fruit berries and is harvested twice a year between July and December.
Acai is considered to be one of the healthiest foods in the world.
